agkjlshdh. It's rough, it's incomplete, and I'm already behind, but BEHOLD WHAT WILL BE A GOOD HALF OF MY MASTERS DISSERTATION.

I am going slowly around the bend.

Next up: The Georges in their palaces! And possibly delicious pastry recipes, if I can find one I could concievably make.

(I STILL LOVE YOU ALL, I DO; BUT DEAR GOD, HELP, DROWNING IN BOOKS AND PROJECT GUTENBERG.)

Guuuuys, the internet is deeeeead.

/whine.

Ssssso, I'm going to be living out of the computer labs for a while. It's just like first year again! Tags are coming, Merc/Fi/Roger!

What have I been up to? Well, Uni's getting stressful, in the sense that I have to cold-contact people about letting me interview them or do projects on them for their website and why can't I live out of books anymore? Plus side, did hear back from Kew Palace about maybe doing a piece on their newly opened Georgian kitchens - nice not to be dismissed out of hand.

In the meantime, I've been crewing King Lear for the Shakespeare Society - that goes up next week, finally, and I can stop putting up posters and pretending I know anything about the play. :S

AND THEN RP, FINALLY :D :D :D

I'm kind of in love with this Kushiel-verse everyone-is-French-pretty-and-possibly-a-holy-prostitute deal! I don't know what this Jacqueline Carey is on, but I kind of want some. And then there was Allpocalypse, and Jack Harkness got to cameo entirely for plot puposes, and I love it all. Oh, Milliways.

I'll never quit you.

(Livejournal, however - yeah. Moooving away, though I'll check my flist still.)

*Much later*

Okay, okay. You probably don't care in the least, but here is my mark breakdown with commentary:

Marks and stuff! )

In other news, I appear to have accidentally agreed to join the Curtain Raisers (theatre group) committee. May whatever God you pray to have mercy on my soul.

OH MY GOD I hate Uni website.

But it worked. I now officially have a 2(i) in history. I'm not entirely sure why it's an i instead of a one, but I DON'T CARE I PASSED AND STUFF.

*Runs off to dance and sing!*

Oh, hey guys.

I totally just finished my BA.

...

Just sayin'.

XD

Two down: One to go.

Dear god am I glad to get that one out of the way. I hated the course, and sucked at it accordingly. By for something I revised in two days entirely from the lecture note, it was shamefully easy. :D National Socialism is now my bitch. Take that, Hitler! Yes. I defeat Nazism by writing about it's methods. Shh.

I feel happy! Good! Irrational euphoria yay! Also, I want to cut my hair. It's pissing me off.

*Pokes* I know some of you have met me, what are your thoughts on medium-shortness? And fringes?

...

Homg done.

Holy crap, I think I'm going to end up over the word count, here. That never happens!

So close. I had the traditional nightmare about not finishing on time even though working all night, last night, which, while it sucks, does give good motivation. I'm planning to go into uni after dinner (yay for 24 hour computer rooms!) to do finishing touches and get them all printed out, since waiting until tomorrow would be stupid. Then I can breeze in tomorrow morning, get my final title form signed, hand everything in and be done by noon.

And that will be worth everything.

*Twitches at MS word, keeps typing.*

EDIT: One down, two to go. XD

*Stares blearily at essay*

This is like pulling teeth.

So nearly done. But not good enough. Kill.

Also, my backside hurts. This is what I get for going to fairs when I should have been working. Totally worth it.

Fair was so much fun. :D

There were slides and dodgems and a roundy go-fast thing. Also, I sliced my thigh open on the seam of a bouncy slide. That takes talent.

Er... Clare and I made a Milliways scrabble board. There is a picture! Right now, however, I really have to sleep.

And tomorrow, I have to write like a crazy person.

(Note to self: Finish section on madness, then move onto the Reformation. And remember to take back library books! P.S. Title form.)
rowanberries: (Helium cat)
Okay, so.

Plan for today: Finish coffee while catching up on comics.
Go to Uni: Take back the sodding books I forgot about yesterday.
Write as much as possible on Science and History Essay
Come home. Take notes for aforementioned. Write more while making dinner.

If I get over 2/3 done by about 3pm tomorrow, I am allowed to go go the fair with Clare and Gemma.

:D

Nice weather makes me rationalise.

I want to pick some fun titles for my chapters!

(Did I mention nearly finished? SO NEARLY FINISHED.)

The first one's on the common stereotype of the 1950s housewife, and I may call it: The very model of a modern maid, chef, lover, financial manager, nanny...

Something like that. *waves hand*

Or something to that effect.

The second one's harder - about analysing stuff to come up with an argument about what she was more commonly actually like.

Um.

?

I did good work today. Not that I'm not still significantly behind where I should/wanted to be by this stage, but I did that thing where as well as writing more, I organised bits so they actually flow, got rid of floating annotations that were redundant and were just screwing up my running word count, and shifted whole paragraphs so they're actually in the right chapter. 2000-ish words to go, but should be a fairly straightforward run at it hereafter.

We're not talking about the other two that I haven't even started.

I have a glass of wine, and I have dinner, and I appear to be composing feminism posts in standup form in my head.

Hello! I'm here to talk about feminism! )
rowanberries: (Writing)
I am writing essay questions for my homework. Sigh. I feel fifteen again. Dissertation is going. Slowly, but it's going, and I think I can have it basically written by the end of this week. Hold me to that. Mind you, tutor's printing off another article for me, and getting me a book to check out this week, so I still haven't finished my stupid research. Ah, well. That's what the ability to insert text into a word document is for.

Aww, historical feminist snobbery. Bless. Mind you, I can never read any of this woman's stuff without feeling sad for her. It must have sucked being a feminist in the 50s. Poor woman wrote a book on the oppression and isolation of young mothers, got it published, and committed suicide before first print. That's just sad. *Pets her* Almost makes me sorry for ripping her work to shreds in the second chapter.

Tum ti tum.

How are you today?

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Let's do that!

Or... you can do that, if you're so inclined, and I will fill it in when I get back from flailing about in literal piles of primary sources.
rowanberries: (Helium cat)
So...

Is there any way I actually want to watch Something Borrowed? I'm... scared to. It's really sad that even the possibility of a pairing can make me that worried. Although I guess it's also one I love breaking up (Not a spoiler! These are just my fears.) It'll have to wait until later, anyhow - going into Special Collections (where the history lives) and reading Women's Own issues from the 50s. Yes. They are hilarious. If you're good, I'll bring back funny quotes.

Additionally! Finally saw V for Vendetta, with was a nice combination of awesome, heartbreaking and hilariously silly. When I finally renew Havelock's account, I really have to get some screencaps for great knife action. Not the, er. Blurry ones, though. His don't do that.

Shower!
rowanberries: (Duuuuuuuuuude.)
...And all I can think is 'Hugh Laurie with an American accent = WRONG.'

Hey, USians? Does that accent sound realistic to you guys? I can't judge, due to overwhelming OMG HUGH WHAT.

In other news, I did my film research today! Woman in a Dressing-Gown, or, why being a slatternly housewife stops your husband loving you and makes him have affairs thus endangering the sanctity of marriage :O!

I love the 1950s.

Also, did some work on OOM-stuff. Yay productivity!

Back at Uni.

First day back was... long. Two hours dissertation tutoring, one hour running around the library for books, three hours Special Subject seminar, one hour reading, hour and a half's choir. I got in at twenty to nine, and dinner wasn't ready until quarter to ten. Excellent time-management, Amy. *Facepalm*

I'ma just eat chocolate and watch Taken tonight, I think.

There is no way in hell I can not post this meme.

Everyone likes to hear what we've done that others really enjoyed. Name your favourite post(s) or thread(s) of mine. Then post this in your journal and bookmark it for whenever you need a pick-me-up!

Sorry I'm not around much this week. I have crazy amounts of work to do, and I'm also going home at the weekend. Next week? Yes. *grins*
