Right, okay, now I've actually watched the episode.

Jack is definitely behaving very darkly. But... I get it. It doesn't seem unrealistic, to me. He's in some bad situations, and especially in this episode. And he didn't even know about the poor expert Lisa killed at the start.

Random thoughts: I like Lisa's cyber-voice, but I think if they wanted to do that, they should have done it all the way through. It's not like you can grow a digital voicebox just because you're no longer hooked up to lifesupport.

Poor Ianto. He was out of line a lot, but also half-crazed with grief for most of it, so that scans.

Jack... some more thoughts, yes, he was angry, and by god he had reason. But he could have been a little more diplomatic.

But then, in my opinion, he showed some mercy by shooting Lisa at the end - Ianto could never have done that without destroying himself, even though he was steeling himself up. It was too much to ask.

Gwen. Please, please, will someone give her character a point, or at least write her more realistically? She's a policewoman! She is likely to be capable! I get that we needed to join Torchwood from her perspective, but now... It seems like the writers are deliberately making her act stupidly just so she can have more than a few lines in each episode. And what's with the random not doing what she's told for no reason whatsoever? If Jack tells you to do something with his face that shade of red, you fucking do it.

And yes, he would have shot you. Stop trying to get him to say 'No, Gwen! You're special!'

Owen! Positively inoffensive, well done. And acted sensibly. Mostly. I'm glad he got shown some depth that early on, since in the first couple of episodes I was twitching with dislike.

Toshiko remains a delight - flailing in bad situations, but realistically. More lines and stuff to do, plz. She's cool, and genuinely likeable.

*Rubs hands* Yes, despite what that may seem like, I enjoyed that. Really very creepy.
