I was so worried they'd do this. D: And honestly, if you're going to ignore the character's ethnicities/appearances anyway, why not just use the actual VA's? Now we're going to have characters that don't sound or look like the originals.

Not to mention that with the possible exception of Aang, they'll have no martial arts experience - which I could have lived with in characters of the right ethnicity. Oh, and his isn't even the right one. *Head in hands*

Exactly! At the very least, they should have at least tried to get the VAs to do it first. If they all said no, I'd understand and wouldn't be that bothered, but if they just wanted to pull in random characters-- I mean jesus, Avatar is based on Asian cultures, there's nothing even remotely Caucasian about any of it! The Fire Nation especially is all about Japanese and Chinese culture and military history and the Zuko is white!

I made a mistake and read some of the comments. There's one idiot that insists that because Avatar doesn't actually take place on Earth, it's ridiculous to assume that anything is Asian-related, as there is no Asia in their universe.
